PM Modi Warns of Cyber Threats, Says Wars Are No Longer Fought with Weapons Alone

PM Modi Warns of Cyber Threats

Bhubaneswar: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has warned that cyberattacks can harm a country’s economy and banking system, even without the use of weapons.

Speaking in Bhubaneswar on Sunday, Modi opened a new data centre and a Cybersecurity Training Institute built by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI). The two facilities are worth ₹169 crore and aim to make India’s banking system safer.

Why Is Cybersecurity Important?

Modi said India needs better technology, stronger computer systems and trained experts to fight online crimes. He stressed that banks must be protected from hackers and cybercriminals as more people use digital banking.

He also said the government was working to bring banking services to more people. According to him, nearly 59–60 crore Jan Dhan accounts have helped people receive government money directly in their bank accounts.

Odisha Looks Towards Technology

The Prime Minister said Odisha could grow beyond its traditional mining industry by investing in technology and computer-based businesses.

He added that data centres and advanced computing could create new job opportunities for young people in the state.

The new RBI facilities are expected to help improve banking safety and prepare experts to deal with growing cyber threats.
