Mumbai: Jio Platforms made a strong start on the stock market on Wednesday, October 28, 2026. Its shares opened at around ₹1,357 on the BSE and NSE, about 21.3% higher than the IPO price of ₹1,119.

The strong opening shows that investors showed interest in the company’s shares. The listing price was also close to the price expected in the unofficial grey market before the stock market debut.

What Is the Jio Platforms IPO?

An IPO, or Initial Public Offering, is when a company offers its shares to the public for the first time. People can apply to buy these shares and become part-owners of the company.

Jio Platforms had set its IPO price between ₹1,065 and ₹1,119 per share. The final price at the top of this range was ₹1,119.

When shares are listed on the stock market, their prices can go up or down depending on how many people want to buy or sell them.

How Much Did Jio Platforms Shares Gain?

Jio Platforms shares opened at around ₹1,357, compared with the IPO price of ₹1,119.

Here is a simple look at the numbers:

  • IPO price: ₹1,119 per share
  • Opening price: Around ₹1,357 per share
  • Price difference: ₹238 per share
  • Opening gain: Around 21.3%

Anant Ambani Thanks Investors

At the listing ceremony in Mumbai, Reliance Industries Executive Director Anant Ambani thanked the people who had placed their trust in Jio.

He said the occasion was special for the company and compared business with worship. He also spoke about sharing the benefits of success with others.

His message highlighted the importance of the investors who supported the company.

Akash Ambani Talks About Jio’s Impact

Akash Ambani, Chairman of Reliance Jio Infocomm, spoke about how Jio had helped people get internet access across India.

He shared the story of a schoolgirl named Anjali from a hilly area of Kerala. Earlier, she had to walk about two kilometres uphill to get an internet connection so she could download her school lessons.

He said Jio’s services helped change situations like hers by making internet access easier.

Sensex and Nifty Open Lower

While Jio Platforms shares opened higher, the wider stock market started the day on a weaker note.

At around 9:15 am on Wednesday, the Nifty 50 was down 0.32% at 22,678 points. The Sensex had fallen 0.47% to 73,253.44 points.

This showed that Jio Platforms’ strong opening came at a time when the main stock market indexes were trading lower.

What Should Investors Know?

A strong IPO listing can attract attention, but it does not guarantee future profits. Share prices may rise or fall after trading begins.

Investors should study the company, understand the risks and make decisions based on their financial goals rather than the excitement around a new listing.

Jio Platforms’ opening at ₹1,357 gave its IPO investors a strong start on listing day, but its future performance will depend on market conditions and the company’s business growth.
