PM Modi Says Government Protected Farmers from Rising Fertiliser Prices

Times of Navi Mumbai | India News

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said that his government did not allow rising fertiliser prices to put extra pressure on Indian farmers.

During his visit to Banaskantha in Gujarat on Friday, Modi said farmers were getting important support from the government despite rising costs around the world.

He said one bag of urea costs around ₹3,000 in the international market, but Indian farmers get it for less than ₹300. Similarly, DAP fertiliser costs around ₹1,350 per bag for Indian farmers.

PM-KISAN Money Released

During the visit, Modi released the 24th instalment of the PM-KISAN scheme. He also laid the foundation stones for development projects worth more than ₹14,000 crore.

He said the government was working to improve farmers’ income through better farming facilities, crop insurance, solar pumps and support for dairy farming.

Focus on Farmers and Rural Development

Modi also spoke about the growth of milk production, fisheries and food processing. He said new projects in Gujarat, including a cattle research centre, would help farmers and dairy workers.

He added that farmers play an important role in India’s growth and promised continued support for them.
