Tripura: 8 Arrested for Attacking Four BSF Personnel, Including Assistant Commandant

Police in Tripura have arrested eight people for allegedly attacking four Border Security Force (BSF) personnel, including an Assistant Commandant, in Sepahijala district.

The incident took place on Monday in Ashabari, Boxanagar. According to police, the trouble started after an argument between BSF personnel and a local resident over a suspected smuggling case. The local resident was allegedly assaulted, following which people from the area blocked the Boxanagar-Rahimpur road in protest.

During the protest, a group of people allegedly attacked Assistant Commandant Rohit Kumar and other BSF personnel. They also damaged their vehicle.

Police said all four injured personnel were taken to a nearby health centre for treatment.

Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha condemned the attack and directed officials to take strict action. He said violence against security personnel would not be tolerated and those responsible would face legal action.

Police have confirmed that eight people have been arrested in connection with the incident. Further action is being taken.
