Buying milk in Karnataka will cost more from November 1. The state government has increased the price of Nandini milk by ₹8 per litre.

Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar said the decision was taken to help farmers who are facing higher costs.

Where Will the Extra Money Go?

The government has decided how the extra ₹8 will be shared:

  • ₹7 will go to farmers.
  • ₹1 will go to milk cooperatives.

Shivakumar said the cost of producing and transporting milk has increased. Expenses such as fuel and plastic packaging have also become higher.

Why Did the Government Raise the Price?

The Deputy Chief Minister said milk in Karnataka was cheaper than in some nearby states. Because of this difference, some milk was being sent to other states where sellers could get better prices.

He said the government wanted to support farmers and reduce their losses. He also said people from different political parties had asked for a milk price increase.

Could Bus Tickets Also Become Costlier?

Shivakumar also spoke about possible increases in state bus fares.

He said transport departments were facing financial problems and higher fuel costs. The government has asked the transport corporations to consider the matter.

However, no final bus fare increase was announced in the report.
